Loop17 Starts at the Rawhitiroa Pools and heads through dairyland on the Eltham Swamp.

Rotokare Scenic Reserve Trust. Rotokare is a fenced pest-free forest reserve 12-kilometres east of Eltham, in south Taranaki. With a lake and wetlands, the scenic reserve has long been a popular recreation spot, and now also has a strong conservation focus. TKT work in partnership with Rotokare Scenic Reserve Trust as the Taranaki Kohanga Kiwi at Rotokare (TKKR) and at any time their can be between 30-40 birds monitored in the reserve, growing a breeding population which is now providing kiwi to repopulate other sites, these birds are monitored by staff and volunteers from both organisations, a few of them are featured here. The Loop Track is wheelchair friendly, with boardwalks extending through the swamp forest, while the Ridge Walk traces the predator-proof fence affording serene lake views, before linking up with the Loop Track.

Both loops are grade 3 11 Dec 2009 In the park, the York Road Loop Track follows the Egmont branch line 12 km east of Eltham, set in the 230-hectare Rotokare Scenic Reserve.

Rotokare Scenic Reserve is a bush and lake reserve in South Taranaki. Rotokare Scenic Reserve is a 230 hectare forested hill-country with extensive wetlands, native bush and a 17.8 hectare lake. It is managed by the Rotokare Scenic Reserve Trust. The Lake Rotokare Walkway is a 4 km walking track that circles the lake.

A 4km walkway around the lake weaves in and out of bush alive with birdsong and the early part of the path is wheelchair-friendly boardwalk with a pontoon for bird watching and fish spotting.
