It is a one of its kind competitions which puts to test the entrepreneurial knack in the students while encouraging them to solve pressing social challenges. The Hult Prize is an annual, year-long competition that crowd-sources ideas from university level students after challenging them to solve a pressing social issue around topics such as food security, water access, energy, and education. It was founded by Ahmad Ashkar and is funded by Bertil Hult, the latter of whom, along with his family – founders of EF Education First – donates US$1 million in seed capital to help the winning team launch a social enterprise.

The prize builds on the Business School Careers Strategy award from AMBA & BGA in 2020 , as well as the 2014 AMBA Innovation award . The Hult Prize Foundation transforms how young people envision their own possibilities as impact leaders of change in the world.
